Instructor Bio:

Miles Gibbs grew up showing lambs in Texas. He raised a Grand or Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb at every Texas major—including three consecutive Grands at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He studied Animal Science at Texas A&M, and today he, his wife Heather, and his daughter Pasch run Continental Ranch in Val Verde County, raising sheep, goats, and cattle alongside hunting and fishing operations. But talk to Miles for five minutes, and you'll realize the passion he has for young people and how livestock can shape their futures. "I enjoy helping young people foster a passion for the stock show experience and its educational importance within the protein industry," he says. "I can't think of another teaching forum that is as family-oriented and industrially driven as the youth livestock show program. The life lessons learned here help create our agricultural leaders of tomorrow—the people who will eventually feed, clothe, and sustain our nation and the world." That belief shapes how he evaluates in the ring too. "Give every exhibitor a fair evaluation and the confidence to come back to the show ring stronger," Miles says, "even if they didn't have their best day."
